Where we have been this week…so far

Just like last week, this week started out fast and furious. Monday night we went to VBS and spent the night with some sweet friends.

Somebody played dress up all night. I am not ready for this…she looks like a teenager!!!

We woke up the next morning and decided to go pick blueberries. I am 31, getting closer to 32, years old and I have never picked blueberries. IT. WAS. SO. EASY. It was warm, but those little berries just fall right off and no thorns. That is my kind of picking! Here is a picture of the kiddos picking some blueberries.

These are the same kiddos almost exactly one year ago. Wow, how they have grown!!!

Last night was crazy night at VBS. We don’t have to work to hard to be crazy, but the children wanted to dress up…so we did. I took at kitty cat and slightly creepy mustache man to VBS. They loved dressing up so much they did not want to take their make up off!

See what I mean…slightly creepy stache!

And as if we didn’t have enough fun last Monday and then again last Saturday…we landed back at the doctor again today. Little Miss woke up feeling bad, she actually slept in until 11:00 am! That is really unusual, as she is my early riser.Plus, the minute clinic called and ask that we follow up with our Ped for the ear infection from Saturday…so off to the doctor we went. So, we have a virus! Ugh, I hate paying $20 to hear those words, but you can NEVER be to careful. The only good thing that came of our appointment today is that we know that the Right ear tube is still in place. Not good. We have had those babies over 2 1/2 years, which my Dr. informed me was the time frame in which they need to come out. He also informed me that MOST of the time, small children must go back under anesthesia to have them removed because it is extremely painful. So, I pray those bad boys have fallen out by Monday…highly unlikely, but with God all things are possible!

Here is sweet thing…she is getting a little tired of going to the doctor!!!

Last week…

I will be honest, last week flew by. It flew by for many reasons and quite frankly, I am too exhausted to update each event with its own post… so here was last week in pictures.

Monday started swim lessons for Caroline. Will is a great little swimmer, but Little Miss doesn’t share the love for swimming like her big bro. So, I decided that she needed a little guidance!! After swim lessons on Monday, we went to eat lunch with Maclaine (she is also taking swim lessons) at Chick fil A. Yum. Mac’s mom suggested that I have Will’s arm ( he hurt it on Friday afternoon falling from a slide at a day camp) looked at by the dentist she works for. I know what you are thinking…dentist…arm…what??? Well, all I can say is that I am so thankful she suggested that. Once the dentist, she works for, took one look at Will’s arm, he suggested that we make an Ortho appointment. I called and guess what? They had an appointment in one hour. So here we go to get X-rays. I was for sure that we would be leaving, having paid $30 bucks for nothing. Boy, was I wrong. We left with a cast on an arm broken in two places. Talk about feeling bad… Good news is…we got a waterproof cast and it only has to stay on for 3 weeks!

That night we decided to go stay at the hotel with dad! We went to Opry Mills to look around for a few hours. The kids were in LOVE!!!

Caroline spotted the “marrying Rapunzel” and added it to her birthday wish list…I think I may have to rent a U-haul to pick up all of the things she has requested!!!

We played in the play area, stopped at Wendy’s for Frosties, and headed back to the hotel…exhausted!

Tuesday, it was back to swim lessons. Caroline FREAKED out today. I think she really decided she did not like her teacher and the water this day! Wow, sweet Ms. Laura may have met her match in Little Miss Stubborn! Tuesday night, Mac stayed at our house for  slumber party! So fun! They had the best time playing and making a mess!

Wednesday, we headed back to swim lessons again. I do not have a picture because we were unable to stay and watch…Sister was still not happy…I think today actually went worse.

Thursday, back to swim lessons. Today was a little more tolerable. A little. Thursday night, my sweet husband, watched the kiddos and let me go spend some girl time with a sweet friend who is home from Africa and some other sweet friends too. It was super duper fun and relaxing!

Friday, Jesse took Caroline to swim lessons and I took Will to a party. Today was the day she turned the corner. She did so well per Daddy and no tears!!! She graduated and even got a mermaid Barbie to play in the pool with from Nonni and a Brave doll from Mommy and Daddy. So proud of our little fish. I guess all of the tears by Caroline and hard work by Ms. Laura paid off!

Friday night we headed to the Drive In with some of our best friends to see Brave. The kids loved sitting in Mr. Ned’s truck and watching the movie! So fun!!!

Father’s Day

Today is the day that we celebrate Dads. Men that made a lasting impression on our lives. I am so fortunate to have three living men in my life.

First is my sweet grandfather, Papa. He is a hoot. He has taught me so many things…

He taught me not to be shy by signing up for pole climbing event at  festival  in GA when I was eight years old. That my friends is a cure for shyness!

He taught me how to play a tune on the piano with my knuckles…you know, just in case you need a talent in a contest.

He taught me how to dig potatoes from the garden, I taught him how to find a friend to sleep over at when picking time came!

He taught me that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I may have dumpster dove with him a couple of times.

He tried teach me to drive…we will leave it at that.IMG_4222_thumb[1]

My father also taught me many things…

He taught me to be kind. He is one of the sweetest men I know. He would literally give you the shirt of his back.

He taught me how to play softball…and back in the day, well I did go to the World’s Series at age 12.

He taught me how to make corn bread….and good cornbread at that.

He taught me to love Jesus by reading me the Bible as a small child.

He taught me how to sleep with some snoring in the same room. This one took a couple of years!

My sweet husband has taught me a few things too…

He has taught me that being a good father means being involved and hands on at all times.

He has taught me patience. He is so patient with our children and with me.

He has taught me to be a better friend.

He is the best father to our children!

I love all three of these men so much and I am so thankful to celebrate them on this day!

I am missing one special man today. My sweet Pepaw. He was such a sweet man too. Happy Father’s Day in Heaven Pepaw!

Family Reunion

Every year we head down to the Farm (where Farm Camp was held previously in the week) for  a family reunion. Good times, good food, good family. This year was no different. The children felt right at home after completing a week at farm camp and they didn’t want to leave! We brought home a sweet little kitty to a sweet little friend. Caroline tried to talk her daddy into getting another kitty…but we came home without one! IMG_5416IMG_5417

Tonight we had Bebe a 60th surprise birthday at Arrington Vineyards! She was so surprised! Thirty friends and family came out to celebrate this special lady! We are so blessed to have her in our lives! Happy Birthday Bebe!! I unfortunately did not get many pictures because Will hurt his arm and was pretty upset, so the camera had to go up!

Farm Camp

This past week was Farm Camp. Jesse’s cousins in Culleoka, Tn have a day camp every year. Will went last year, but this was the first time sister could go. They both had a blast!!! I loved hearing about their adventures every day at pick up! What a great time! I unfortunately don’t have very many pictures of Will! Caroline’s counselor added pics to Facebook, so I borrowed a couple of those!
