A Party Fit For A Princess

Today Caroline went to her first all girl party. It was a princess theme and I am not sure who was more excited, Mommy or the princess. I would be lying if I told you from the moment they said “it’s a girl”, that I didn’t fantasize about moments much like these. I am sort of a girly girl so having a sweet little one to share these moments has been an amazing blessing. Back to the party, it was downright Royal in every sense of the word! Em pulled out all the stops. The food was fit for a Queen, the decorations were Regal, and the accessories handmade by Em looked perfect for a Princess. It was such a sweet special time celebrating Lila and God’s little princesses.

I Heart 4!

Four year olds. When I say that statement so many emotions come to mind, laughter, love, joy, and sheer frustration. Luckily, there is a whole lot of those first three emotions! The other night when we stayed at my sister’s place, Will refused to sleep in a pull up. First of all, he doesn’t sleep in a pull up…so he thought I had lost my mind. Then I accidentally referred to it as a “diaper” and he freaked out…making me actually lose my mind. I can feel his pain, really I can…I am sure it is downright humiliating to wear you little sister’s Princess Pull Up to bed…but this is not my mattress and I would freak out if he had an accident, so therefore he was not changing my mind. So, after lots of tears and a red permanent marker, we had come to a compromise. I mean if it has a car on it and you can’t see the princesses, it isn't girly right? The things we do for love…and for a good nights sleep!

The Baquarium

Yep, I know I misspelled it. According to Will that its correct name. He said enough. “I wanna go to the Baquarium”, “Do you think we will see fish at the Baquarium”?, “Is there food at the Baquarium”, “Momma, I wanna live at the Baquarium”! I wanna live at the Baquarium too. That place is awesome. I am going to be honest, I feel those kind of places are sometimes a bit boring. This place was far from boring. I want to go back! We played for over three hours and the children were actually the ones ready to go! The aquarium was absolutely worth the price. In fact some of the memories we made were priceless! The children played for probably over an hour petting the sting rays (which Caroline affectionately nicknamed “Steamrollers” because she could never remember “sting ray”. Will was tenuous about petting them at first but after his sister was brave enough to touch one, he suddenly became quite tough! I won’t remind him of that small fact when he is fifteen. Mom and I loved the penguins. People, penguins are funny. I mean really funny. We read on one of the signs in the Penguin rooms that they use rocks to make their nests and that they will “steal” rocks from other neighboring penguins without batting an eye. That could not be more truthful! One penguin in particular was quite the little thief and he kept taking all of the rocks. They were shouting at him and letting him have a piece of their mind. It was too funny!!! We had a picnic lunch and then walked around downtown Chatt enjoying the rest of a beautiful afternoon.

ChattaZOO

Mom and I love a good excuse to load up the car and get out of town. The kids being out of MDO for Spring Break was just the excuse we needed. So off we went to Chattanooga! We had a free place to stay (my sister lives there) because Aunt Jen was on her Spring Break in Florida! The first stop we made on our mini vacay was the Chattanooga Zoo. I know what you are thinking...you just went to the zoo three days ago:), but if you have a zoo membership there are reciprocal zoos that honor those memberships, so we were able to go to Chattanooga's zoo for $10.50! Now that is what I am talking about! Budget vacation! The zoo was really small but really well maintained and I think there were like 16 people there at the same time as us, so we had our run of the place. The kids loved it and we stayed and watched the chimps forever. After all the zoo action, we rode the Carousel. It was probably the cutest one I have ever seen! Great first morning in Chattanooga*!

Zoo Fun

The snow cone that Jesse allowed Will to get...he ended up wearing it! Looking at this picture, I think we might be the three whitest people ever. Come on sun, we need a tan! Poor Jesse carried alternated carrying these two throughout the whole zoo! He did his cardio for the day! Miss Priss showing Mommy how the Monkeys say Oooh! Today we decided to take the kids to the Nashville* Zoo. My parents gave us season passes for the first time at Christmas and today was a perfect day to start using those. Jesse had not been to the zoo since high school, so he was in for a surprise! We had so much time making a memory. It is days like this that I feel that my cup runneth over:) We checked out the animals, played with on the playground, and ate snow cones. We can't wait until we can go back! Thanks Mom and Dad for the great Christmas present and thanks Aunt Rachel for getting it for us:)

Winter Jam

My radio station rarely wavers from Way FM*, unless it is to listen to the movie playing in the car or the VBS music CD. So every year I hear them advertise "Winter Jam", this super cool concert that is $10 at the door. Well, that is my kind of concert:) So this year, instead of just LISTENING to the advertisement on the radio, I decided to ACT. I am so glad I did. It was awesome. I will definitely plan to attend next year. The music was fabulous, but the speaker really spoke to my heart...and obviously to Mom's too...she left with a four year old to sponsor!

Hanging out

My sister came into town this weekend. She stayed with us on Friday night, to avoid the stomach virus at my parents house! But by Sunday, Mom was feeling much better and wanted in on the action. So after church and after Panchos, we headed to the playground to enjoy the beautiful sunny day. I love a good trip to the park, it will wear everyone out...even the parents! We climbed and played until we were good and tired and then we headed to Sonic* for a little happy hour. Now, that is my kind of afternoon.
