Santa Claus came to town!!!

Since, Jesse had to work over Christmas we told our Elf, Snowman, to call up the Big Guy in the Red Suit and let him know that we would need to be visited early...

Snowman, our Elf, came to live with us at the start of the month. He has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly...I guess, he decided to be a nice Elf and send this picture to Santa.

So, we left some milk and cookies and headed to our beds...

and look what we found when we awoke(some of us more awake than others)...

I think the Elf gave the kids a good report, what do you think?

Time for the annual trip to look at Christmas Lights at the Opryl*nd Hotel! Jesse was snowed in in Minnesota for Christmas Day and I had just returned home from the ER, so we celebrated as a family on the 27th. We loaded up the car and headed to the Big City to check out some fabulous lights. The kids had grown quite used to driving around and looking at lights but they thought this was out of this world!

The Reason

Tradition: a. an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior (as a religious practice or a social custom)

When I was a little girl, we had a few Christmas traditions. Reasons that I thought I loved about this season. We always made sugar cookies and decorated them a couple of days before Christmas...we went Caroling with Church to shut-ins in the area...we went to Opryland Hotel to look at the lights...we starred in the annual Christmas pageant at Church...we opened one present on Christmas Eve... Tonight we started a new Christmas tradition. Jesse was out of town, so we were spending the evening with my parents. We decided to bake Jesus a birthday cake.

At first it started out as something fun, and it was fun. But it turned in to so much more. It really made me start to think about my Jesus.

b : a belief or story or a body of beliefs or stories relating to the past that are commonly accepted as historical though not verifiable
Jesus did come as a baby...HE the reason that we celebrated this season. Every reason...

Merry Christmas and may you be Blessed more abundantly than you already are.

Love,
The Pilkintons

Christmas...so far

Sunday night we had our Christmas with Bebe, Jesse's mom. It was so much fun. We had to do Christmas early because Jesse had to work over Christmas and Kiki and Jon are traveling to Indy. I love Christmas with Jesse's side of the family. I grew up with a small extended family, so it is always fun to see how crazy it is when you have lots of people together! We had so much fun and just enjoyed being together. I wish I had taken more pics, but to me that is a sign that I was having too much fun!

Monday night, we attended the annual Christmas at the S's. Each year, we pick a theme, and this year's theme was Water, Water Everywhere...the gifts in the exchange were fabulous. We left with a Bass Pro gift card and a tackle box and a Dick's gift card...not sure, but I think that I got cheated! Aunt C and Uncle A gave Will and Caroline adorable superhero capes...I think we just might have to wear them for Halloween next year!

Carol of the...

Kids!
Yesterday, Will had his First Christmas Program at his school. I can honestly say, these moments make me realize just how much I love being a mother, but most of all this child's mother. My kid does not have a shy bone in his little body. He strutted up to the stage, clapped throughout the whole song, and sung his heart out! Will you were great sweetheart! We are so proud of you!!!

Deck the...

House, with lots of candy...When Jesse walked in the door on Monday, Will met him at the door with the Gingerbread House kit. I had used it over the last few days to, bribe, I mean coax will into good behavior...and Dad was finally home. We had so much fun decorating the "wittle house" as Will was saying. We decorated some, ate some, and little sister managed to sneak in a little "big brother bike" riding while he was busy. It was fun. I think this will definitely become an annual event!

Cookie Compromise

Yesterday, we decorated Christmas cookies. I had planned to wait until Jesse was home, but Will found the Gingerbread House kit and let's just say it was going to be a long 24 hours if I had waited... So, we compromised...I let him decorate the cookies that were in the kit. We saved the house for tonight when our Daddy gets home!
