One Little Monkey

"Three Little Monkeys playing on the bed,
One JUMPED off and hurt his leg,
Momma called the Doctor,
The Doctor said, "Now you get a blue
cast to take to the beach!"

I sing the Monkey song to Will lots and he loves it, but little did I know that it would make such an impression on him!!! Yesterday, Will was at playgrop at Sophie C.'s house and the three older children were playing so well. They were sitting on Sophie's bed having the best time, until...Mr. Will decided to jump off the bed. We made an unexpected trip to the Bone and Joint Clinic and two hours, six X-rays, many tears (by Mommy and Will), two suckers, and four stickers later, we left with a blue cast that has to stay on for three weeks. Yep, that means we are taking it to the beach. Thankfully, the doctor consented to a waterproof cast, so Will doesn't miss out on all of the fun. I was so worried about Will not wanting to walk on his cast, but I assure you he is running full force this morning! I laugh because Cy broke his leg when Colby was about a month old, I guess we are just keeping up with the Lankford's! Jesse was out of town, so I was so thankful that my mom could be there to help out!

On a lighter note, Caroline is doing so well and was so cooperative while we were at the doctor. What a good girl!

Please pray for us for three weeks! God has already been so good by allowing him to adapt so quickly!

Extreme Nursery Makeover

Well, not extreme, but it has definitely had a girly touch added. I think Caroline was seriously starting to feel self consious about sleeping in her brother's old nursery that was pretty much all blue, so we gave it a makeover and now it is fit for a princess.

Weekend Update:
I had newborn pictures made of Caroline and the slideshow is finally up. They were taken by Jadie Thomas. She is pretty much amazing!
Saturday, Jesse left to go back to work. I think being away from the family has been pretty hard on him after a month off. We have missed him terribly and cannot wait until he comes home on Tuesday! We love you Daddy! We have had lots of good help though! We celebrated my grandmother, Memaw's 86th birthday last night, so that kept us pretty busy! Will had lots of fun hanging out with Pop Pop and singing Happy Birthday to Memaw!
Caroline went to church for the 1st time to her Nonni and Poppi's church and she was a good little girl! She has her 1st Dr appt tomorrow, so we will be sure to update her new stats!

Will things ever be the same?

Warning: The video I am about to post is intended for feedback purposes only, not to scare anyone. If you have only one child at the moment(except A.C.) you might want to skip it cause it might just scare you to death...it would have me. Now, moving on...mothers of two or more, PLEASE watch the video and give me hope and words of encouragement. Before you watch the video, let me give you a little background info. So, I decided to take Will and Caroline to Hobby Lobby (with my mom's help) to give Jesse a break for a while. Let's just say, halfway between the flower aisle and the ribbon aisle both children had a complete meltdown. I mean, I am used to meltdowns, I have a 21 month old, but 2 meltdowns at once? I held it together until I got in the car and then I managed to sob out the words, "We are never leaving the house alone again (I mean without another adult, Jesse, Nonni, BeBe, etc.) It really scared me! We are talking scared! So, here we are getting in the car...scary. On a happier note, I had Caroline's newborn pics made today and they are adorable. She was very cooperative! Here are a few from the shoot. Amanda

Rub-a-dub-dub

Well, today was a big day in Caroline's life! She had her first bath, no, her cord did not fall off and I toooold Jesse that, but he wanted to do it anyway. So, we were super careful to not let any water get on that soon to be belly button and the splish splashing began. She loved it! I was so surprised. She was so laid back unlike her big brother when we gave him his first bath. Will had to help of course, and in between kisses from her big brother we managed to wash her off. I am not complaining though, I would much rather him be kissing her than throwing bath toys at her. It was sweet and it made me realize just how close I want them to be growing up. I hope that their love for each other will grow strong and they will be best of friends. I wanted to put a cute little naked picture of her in the bathtub and Jesse refused. I guess he is turning into that overprotective daddy already!

Caroline and Will had a visit from Daddy's family last night. Kiki and Jon brought us a very nice dinner and a chocolate chip pie (which is almost all gone!). Jesse brother J.Clark met Caroline for the first time and BeBe came too. It was great to see them all.
Happy Monday,
Amanda

Stayin Alive, Stayin Alive

Well, we are all still alive here on the Pilkinton Homefront as our first week comes to a close. All in all, truthfully, it has been very bearable. Caroline slept exceptionally well last night, so well in fact, that I only needed one coat of concealer under my eyes...talk about progress. She had a few visitors over the past few days. Crea and here sweet girls came and brought Miss C practically a whole "girly" wardrobe and enough food to feed a small army! We really appreciate it! We have also had lots of food from friends and family! Sean and Jessica and baby, Luke stopped by and welcomed Caroline. My sister, or Aunt Den Den as Willbear affectionately calls her, met Carebear for the first time since here birth! Lots of people have said that Caroline looks like my sister, so I am glad they have finally met. It was lots of fun having her around this weekend. To all who have brought food, visited us, and showered us with gifts... THANK YOU NOTES ARE COMING!!! We are doing great though and trying to savor these first few memories as a new family! Thanks be to God for a wonderful 1st week!

Mama said there'd be days like this

Mama said, Mama said...
That particular song keeps playing over and over in my head in these first sleepless nights. I think tonight will go better though...you have to hope right?
We have survived the first two nights at home and even though we are sleepy, we are blissfully enjoying these first few days of our daughter's life. She has been really great so far, minus her little night time episodes!!! She is adored by her big brother and he just cannot quit kissing her, not really sure that is so good as we begin to enter the germy season, but what can one do. I am posting some pictures of these first few days. I must confess that I have absolutely no clue about being a girl mom. I mean, I am a girl myself, but all of this is very new to me. Two dear friends gave Caroline this beautiful dress that she is wearing in the first few pictures. I thought it was so cute and I was so excited about putting it on her. I put it on her and she just started crying a trying to wiggle out of it. She looked so uncomfortable. Well, little did I know that it was not a long sleeved dress it was short sleeved! Who knew you had to tie the ribbon and pull the sleeves up? Needless to say once I figured that out she appears to be more comfortable.

You also definitely let your second child do things faster than your first. Look at our big girl already rocking out her swing. She loved it. It put her right to sleep!

These last pictures are of Will! We registered for this tractor at the McArthur Sanders booth at the fair. I registered us all every time we went! I pretty sure that I entered our family at least 20 times! Well, I am so not lucky, so needless to say, I did not win it. My grandfather went to the fair one time, put his name in one time, and WON the tractor. Lucky for Will that he is the only grandson!!! Here we are picking up the tractor! I love this little farmer!

Happy 21 months Will

Today is Will's 21 month birthday! Wow, how time has flown. We came home from the hospital today and Will welcomed baby Caroline with open arms. He is a good big brother already. Thanks for all the visits and calls. I left my camera in my Mom's car, so I will post pictures of the Homecoming tomorrow. We are doing well and just adjusting to what will be our crazy life!!! Here is a picture of the big brother and his soon to be Uncle Jon! And the big brother hanging out with his sweet cousin, Abby! Happy 21 months Baby!
